Today a drop in oil prices because Libya has taken an oil field into production. In recent times, oil prices also suffered from increased stocks in the US. I'm getting more and more doubts about those rising oil stocks. Oil storage is in oil tanks. Those are not unlimited. For 2 years we have heard that there are large oil stocks. But if those oil stocks continue to rise, those oil tanks can never have been so full. Building new tanks will be costly and takes time. Storage in oil tankers can also be expensive. Vopak's largest global tanker rentalcompany complained of low occupancy in the first quarter. So I doubt if there is so many oil in stock. More info...

I expect much higher oil prices. Because of the low price of oil, there is far too little invested in the search for new oil. In shale oil, there have been investments but there is the break-even higher so very low prices are no longer possible.
