Malaysia probably isn’t the first country to come to mind while exploring investment opportunities in Asia. When you dig a little deeper however you will find that the Malaysian economy has solid foundations and growth rates are considerable.
The largest growth rates are over for now I must confess but I do think that Malaysia is well situated to keep growing for years to come albeit in a slower mode.
As many other Asian countries Malaysia too is vulnerable for short hick-ups but I do think that eventually things will turn out fine. Malaysia has at its disposal a number of healthy market sectors and a few oil wells.
Lyxor MSCI Malaysia UCITS ETF
Financial stocks take up the largest share of this Malaysia ETF (30%) which is not abnormal for a developed economy. The industrial sector takes up another 15% and Telecommunications has a weighing of 10%.
I myself do believe that Malaysia will offer great opportunities for investors if entry points are chosen with care. These entry points will appear on a regular basis as Asian countries always experience hitches while staying on a long term growth path.
